We are located in Summerfield, Florida. At the helm of the academy is Sifu Derrick Void.
Meet Derrick Void
Sifu Derrick Void has been into Kung Fu since his youth and took up studying martial arts even more seriously in 1983. Initially, he trained in Tang Soo Do and Taekwondo. During 4-year tour of duty with the Marines Corps, he trained in full-contact kickboxing on the Okinawan Marine Corps kickboxing team. He came back home to Connecticut after leaving the Marines.
The Passion Heightens
Derrick went on to train further in 1997 at Waterbury, Connecticut where he studied Wing Chun, his first brush with Kung Fu and the Filipino art of kali. He then moved to Dallas, Texas in 1998 where he met Sifu Thanh Van. There, he began studying Eight-Step Praying Mantis and Shyun Tai Chin Chuan.
Derrick received his teaching certificate in 2003 through the ACMAF. He now holds certified credentials as a Sifu Instructor in the system.
An Unquenchable Thirst for Knowledge
Every year, Derrick further stocks up on knowledge about Chinese health and healing arts as taught by Grandmaster James Shyun.
Continually training in kung fu, tai chi, and self-defense, Derrick, is currently operating Kung Fu USA Florida headquarters in Summerfield, Florida.
Sifu Derrick holds classes for children, teens, and adults. He currently trains children, ages 3 to 12, in private on-site programs throughout Central Florida, including those for Kung Fu for Christ Academy. He conducts demonstrations and services for the following events:
